I ordered the transmission from Summit Racing. There are quite a few gear ratio choices, which I learned about on Richmond's webpage. Also I scanned in a chart on my Transmission Spec page. After I chose the ratios I wanted, I had to make a call to Richmond where they gave me a part number, which corresponded with the gear ratios. I then gave this number to Summit, and to my surprise, they had one in stock! So the order was placed. It's shipped by truck, so it took about 2-3 weeks for delivery. The Trans. comes with an instruction book, backup light switch and a shifter assembly with all the hardware. The shifter is made my Long machine. It appears to be a heavy-duty piece using chomemoly steel for rod and spherical ends for joints. The shifter is first mounting to the trans for adjusting of all the rod lengths. Then removed as an assembly for installation into the car.

I talked to a couple people who had successfully installed this transmission without problem. The trans fitted OK, it's the shifter assembly that would not fit. First, I thought it's interfering because my car was originally an automatic. As far as I know, the only difference in floor, it no shift hump with autos. I had to cut a hole for the shifter regardless, but my inference was halfway between the firewall and the shifter. The 3-4 and 5-6 gear rods go upward. Nearly impossible to dent the floor this much, I decided to just cut it out and fab a new piece of metal and screw it down over the opening. I decided to get my sledge hammer and make clearance for the 3-4 rod attachment because I didn't want to cut through my floor support.
