Rear Suspension, Axle and Brakes

Click on a picture for a closer look

I assembled the rear suspension using PST's Polygraphite Bushings and all new Grade 8 hardware. Also you can see the new KYB gas shocks. The coil springs are standard height springs I got from National Parts Depot. To help with cornering, I also purchased some mammoth 1 3/8" anti-sway bars from Malibu Performance in California. As you can see, I decided to fabricate my own custom adjustable control arms. I also added Lakewood's No-Hop bars. The rear axle assembly holds a new Auburn Posi unit with Richmond 3.73 gears.

Updated on January 2001

I've decided to add more strength to the axle assembly by using main cap studs, Moser Engineering axles and a Mosier Engineering rear cover.

In addition to the front brakes, 12" Bear discs were added to the rear axle assembly. These rear brakes also have an integrated parking brake mechanism that hooks to a stock type cable setup.

To round out the complete package, Global West lower control arms with Del-Alum bushing were added to the rear also. In addition to Global West springs and Koni adjustable shocks. I did reuse my upper adjustable control arms. I will not be adding a sway bar to the rear, per Global West's recommendation.
